E3 Face Cream is a prescription product and contains no synthetic preservatives beyond what is needed for stability. We recommend using it within 6 months of receiving it.
Store it at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.
Do not use E3 after the recommended period, and do not share it with anyone else. It has been prescribed for you.
E3 Face Cream is a prescription night cream for skin that has changed with perimenopause and menopause. It pairs low-dose estriol, a milder form of oestrogen, with two barrier-supporting actives in a base formulated for facial skin.
Most skincare treats menopausal skin as ordinary dry skin. It isn't. The changes are driven by falling oestrogen, and E3 is designed to work at that level.
Skin is an oestrogen-responsive organ. Oestrogen receptors sit in the epidermis, the dermis, hair follicles and sweat glands, and oestrogen helps regulate collagen production, skin thickness, water-holding capacity and wound healing.¹
As oestrogen falls, women commonly notice:
Collagen loss is fastest in the first five years after menopause, which is why skin can seem to change abruptly rather than gradually.¹
If you want to target facial skin directly, topical estriol is an option that has been studied specifically for menopausal skin changes.
Estriol is a weaker oestrogen than estradiol. Applied to the skin, it acts on local oestrogen receptors and may help support collagen, skin thickness and elasticity where it is applied.
One study compared estriol and estradiol creams used on the face over six months in perimenopausal women. Both improved signs of skin ageing, with slightly greater improvement seen with estriol.² Skin biopsies examined under the microscope have also shown increased skin thickness and improved elastic fibre structure with topical estriol.²
Importantly, blood tests in that study showed no significant change in hormone levels, which suggests the treatment worked mainly where it was applied.²
This is the question most women ask first, and the honest answer is that the data is limited but reassuring.
Several studies of cosmetic creams containing estriol or estradiol have monitored hormone-related markers to test for systemic absorption. Most found no evidence of it. FSH, serum estradiol and vaginal cytology generally remained unchanged.²
One study reported breast tenderness in some participants. As there was no placebo group, it was not possible to tell whether the cream caused it, and the authors concluded that no systemic hormonal side effects were observed.²
The overall picture is that systemic oestrogenic effects from topical facial estriol at cosmetic doses are likely to be minimal. We will say plainly that the evidence base is small, and we will keep reviewing it.
Low-dose estriol on its own is not a complete formulation for facial skin. E3 combines it with actives chosen to support the barrier and reduce the chance of irritation:
Niacinamide (vitamin B3) 3%
Supports the skin barrier, improves tone and texture, and helps calm redness.
Hyaluronic acid 0.5%
Helps skin hold water and eases the dryness that comes with falling oestrogen.
Facial-grade base
Formulated specifically for delicate facial skin, and free of ingredients likely to cause unnecessary irritation. Delivered in an airless pump to keep the actives stable.
E3 is a night product. Use it once daily in the evening.
Apply a thin layer. More is not better. Use as directed by your doctor.
Skin turnover is slow, so give it three to six months before judging results. The published facial studies ran for six months.²
E3 Face Cream is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and is safe to use alongside your other skincare.
It is also safe to use with Menopausal Hormone Therapy. A clinical study found no increase in blood estriol levels after use.²
Before you start
E3 Face Cream is supplied only after clinical review and a valid prescription. Placing an order does not guarantee supply. If our doctor assesses that E3 is not clinically appropriate for you, we will not dispense it, and you will not be charged for the product.
Consultations purchased online must be scheduled and completed within three (3) months from the date of purchase. Failure to schedule or complete the consultation within this timeframe may result in forfeiture of the consultation without eligibility for a refund.
Billing and repeat delivery
By approving your treatment plan, you authorise Taylor to charge your nominated card for each E3 Face Cream delivery, every 60 days, until your prescription expires or you cancel. We will email you before each charge. You may pause, skip or cancel at any time from your account, provided you do so at least 2 working days before your next scheduled charge. Cancelling stops future deliveries. It does not refund a delivery that has already been dispensed.
Prescription validity
Prescriptions are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue. Deliveries will stop automatically when your prescription expires. To resume, book your annual video consultation. We will remind you in advance.
Taylor reserves the right to update the information or fees associated with this product without prior notice.
